Beginner’s Watercolour Experience with Ian Scott Massie
Wouldn’t it be great to pick up a brush, dip it into paint and create a painting?
Watercolour is a wonderful way to develop painting skills. Clean to work with and quick drying, it’s an ideal medium for the beginner.
It calls for a combination of imagination, a few simple skills and enthusiasm to create colourful, evocative pictures.
I will take you through the elements of colour mixing, brush control and understanding your materials through simple exercises, leading toward the creation of a painting.

This is an experience open to all. Making art is an essential human activity found in every culture - we are all artists!
Beginner’s Watercolour Experience takes place over 3 hours at the Happy House in Masham, North Yorkshire. The experience is led by Ian Scott Massie, a painter and teacher with many years of experience.
The experience will work equally well with either one person or a small group and will take place in the inspiring surroundings of the Music Room of the Happy House.

- A notebook or pad to jot down ideas from the session
- An open heart and an inquisitive mind

Please be aware: the building is home to 2 cats. Although they will not have access to the room we are working in they may be in the communal areas. Please let us know if this could be a problem for you or any of your group.
