Forage Yourself A Cuppa
Want to learn about finding and preparing delicious foraged ingredients to make a first class brew?
Interested in the folklore and ancient tales surrounding some of our common wild plants and herbs? Length of experience: 2 hours Experience leader: Sarah. I am a dedicated tea-drinker, experienced forager and teacher. Growing up on the Yorkshire Wolds, followed by living and working in the Dales, I have developed a life-long love of all things wild and a passion for sharing my love of nature with others. |
Location: Walks will take place around the beautiful environs of Masham and can be tailored to suit all walking abilities. Walks will begin from the Happy House (or from walk starting point, depending on location) and will finish in the relaxing surroundings of the Happy House veranda/garden.
Description of the experience:
I will take you on a gentle amble, through the rural surroundings of this picturesque Dales town, to find your own bespoke, natural ingredients to make a herbal brew.
We will then return to the Happy House, where you can enjoy the fruits of your labour, with your own wild-foraged cuppa. I will show you how to preserve plants for a year-round supply of delicious, healthy tea. You will also discover how to incorporate a few plants you can easily grow in your garden, window box or sunny windowsill; so you will always have tea-ingredients to hand!
Your experience will include:
. how to identify and sustainably harvest seasonal leaves, flowers and berries
. hear some of the intriguing folklore and ancient wisdom associated with the plants we find
. prepare the gathered plants to make a delicious brew, and relax with your cuppa in the Happy House garden/veranda as I demonstrate alternative ways to prepare and preserve your natural bounty.
